Around this time of year, people are writing down things they would like to do in the new year.  They want to change their old ways and improve themselves and their lives. Perhaps even have a more fulfilling life. I thought I would share some thoughts that you might want to adopt as your New Year's resolutions

  • Get in “SHAPE”; As defined by Rick Warren Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, Experiences. The link is to his article on the topic.
  • Become more confident in your Christian Faith: Learn to defend your Christian beliefs; Try listening to Greg Koukl’s podcast at Stand to Reason www.str.org. Consider reading an excellent book Cold-Case Christianity by J. Warner Wallace
  • Learn to express your faith clearly: Try taking a class that helps you organize your thoughts Engage 360 Ministries or Read books that can help you explain the truth claims of the Christian Faith like Frank Turek’s book “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist”.
  • Listen to different views and learn how to have a conversation: A good place to start the Unbelievable podcast.
  • Improve your concentration and mental skills and reduce stress: Praying is an excellent way to focus your thoughts and think about what is most important to you.
  • Improve your relationships: Start with the most important relationship that would be with God. Have daily conversations with Jesus. You will be amazed at how it affects your other relationships.
  • Meet new people: Find a Church and meet new people or say Hi to people you don’t know at your existing Church. You may begin to realize the Church is not a building.
  • Become more active: Go to more church events or volunteer somewhere see how it changes your mood and your outlook.
  • Give up bad habits: What are the things that keep you from praying, reading, or any of the above topics. Maybe it is time to give them up.
  • Learn to let go of grudges and avoid moping: Forgiveness is freeing. Not only when you forgive others but when you forgive yourself.
  • Travel more and see the world: Consider a ministry trip. Helping others may inspire you.
  • Start writing a book/journal: It may help you see how God is working in your life.
  • Stop procrastinating: Commit to reading your Bible or use an app on your phone to listen to it. When coupled with prayer you can meditate on God’s Words will make you realize you are part of something bigger than your problems.

Got some better ones, feel free to list in the comment section

If you need some ideas, then you came to the right person. I have been doing all sorts of things for years now, and I have an entire book about it. I am not going to post it here, so if you like, just go to my website. I have the book there, and it will not cost you a lot. I know that this is just some self promotion, but it is what it is, I hope you check it out.
